Representatives from 7 Friends of Libraries groups braved snow drifts yesterday to come to CLPL and kibbitz about the creation of their new NIRF (Northern Illinois Regional Friends) blog. Represented were Huntley, Harvard, Hampshire, Cary, Crystal Lake, Wauconda, and McHenry Friends. What a fun group of gals!
February FOCLL Book Social
Monday, February 17th
7-8:30 PM Colonial Café and Ice Cream
Cold weather is great for reading and for book discussions. Get a copy of Little Heathens by Mildred Armstrong Kalish and enjoy an account of her childhood on an Iowa farm during the Great Depression, when money was tight but her family creatively coped with common sense, humor, and inventive recipes. Then, come a little early for dinner or dessert on Feb. 17th and stay for a rousing discussion, lead by Deb Wright. Guaranteed, there will be time to chime in with some of your own family stories from the 1930's. Hope to see you there!
