Please join us at 7:30pm, City Hall, for the 1/3/2017 Crystal Lake City Council meeting that includes this item on its agenda.
The Library Board discussed all the options for our current building situation with the Architect & Construction Manager at their 11/16 meeting. They then spent a month talking with others in the community & reflecting on the options. We know the City will only issue bonds if we get a referendum passed. The next two ballot box opportunities are April 2017 and March 2018.
At the 12/21/16 regular meeting, the Board voted to ask the City Council to put the new building back on the ballot on April 4 with some minor modifications to the ballot question. The Board believes that a new building is still the most cost effective option, the longer we delay the more the costs will continue to rise, and we have to keep trying. We know that it has taken our local schools and other libraries in the area multiple tries to pass a referendum.
The City Council will consider the Library Board’s request at their meeting tonight, 1/3, 7:30 at City Hall.
